In response to my mom's question - I actually know all about the earthquake in Haiti, probably more than you guys. That's all anybody talks about here. And I have investigators who have had family members die over there. It's kind of messed up and sad. The earthquake happened Tuesday. And yes, I felt it. But I am OK.

As far as my experience goes, my companion and I were teaching, or more or less trying to convince this inactive brother to go back to church when it struck. I was sitting on a bed with my companion because there wasn't any seats besides the one the other guy was sitting on - when all of a sudden everything started being distorted around me. At first I thought it was my companion moving the bed, but it stopped, so we just continued. But then it happened again and I wasn't sure what was happening, but after like 10 seconds it stopped. Now I have never been in an earthquake before so I had no clue what one felt like, but now I can never say that anymore, right. After the second time the guy's wife came running in telling us that there was just an earthquake in Haiti and that their biggest hospital was destroyed. And that was how I heard about the earthquake in Haiti - and how I had my first experience with an earthquake. It was pretty uneventful for me but I would never want to be a Haitian as of right now. We have this investigator that we are teaching that is from Haiti and he, as of right now, has lost a grandpa and they can't find 8 of his brothers and cousins. Which probably means they are dead, they just haven't been identified. Which is really sad.

Other than that, my week was really good. My companion and I are really getting to know our new area and all the members are pretty sweet. Also Friday we had a really good activity at the church. We did a BBQ and we were able to get 11 of our investigators to go to church - which was dang sweet. We played games and everything. Then we also ran into these four Jehovah Witnesses that we started teaching, and they are sweet. 3 of them practically memorized the booklet that we gave them which doesn't happen everyday. So I hope our teaching them goes good. Till next week. . . .
